This is a first-of-a-kind pictorial coffee-table book on the motoring heritage of UAE. To be released in a bilingual format (English & Arabic), the pictorial book will be dedicated to the motor cars
owned & driven by the visionary founding father of the United Arab Emirates.
Although more from the fin-age than
vintage, His Highness did own an eclectic mix of motor cars. He preferred large American cars for comfort and
the iconic British 4WDs such as Land Rovers & Range Rovers to navigate the harsh desert terrain, when off-roading,
while his love for the ‘three-pointed star’ Mercedes-Benz is too well known.
Unlike royals elsewhere sitting behind
a chauffeur, much like in real life, he was seen at the steering wheel, choosing to be in control and in command.
The author documents the hitherto
un-researched automotive history of this young & dynamic motor-loving nation.
Published to commemorate HH’s birth centenary (Year of Zayed 1918 - 2018), and in time for the EXPO2020 in Dubai, the book will serve as a memorial, a tribute to one of the greatest leaders of the 20th century. With rare photographs the book will tell the visual tale of the transition from Camels to Cadillacs.
The book by Mohammed Luqman Ali Khan, a renowned and respected researcher and expert in vintage and classic cars, has the great merit to provide a unique array of unpublished photographs and stories about the underrated automotive history of this young and dynamic motor loving nation.
In his own way, in his own environment Sheikh Zayed contributed to what is today's mission of FIVA (Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens), the international federation for historic vehicles: to protect preserve and promote world motoring heritage.
This book by renowned classic cars expert Mohammed Luqman Ali Khan is a valuable contribution to the UAE history.
It further documents, analyses and communicates the legacy our Founder, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan by telling the story of his appreciation of automotive heritage and passion for vintage and classic cars.
